Mall of Acadiana
The Mall of Acadiana is located five miles south of I-10, at the intersection of Johnston Street and Ambassador Caffery Parkway. It is owned by CBL & Associates Properties and it was opened in 1979. It currently has 997,275 square feet of retail space in a single-floor enclosed structure. There are 120 shops and services in this mall, with Dillard's, J. C. Penney, Macy's and Sears as anchor tenants. Other major shops include Victoria's Secret, Chico's, Talbot's, Eddie Bauer, Nine West, Abercrombie & Fitch, Abercrombie Kids, Banana Republic, Hollister, American Eagle, and Coldwater Creek. There are also 7 restaurants and eateries as well as a food court. During weekdays and on Saturday, the mall is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Sunday the mall is open from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Parking is free at this mall, but there are no covered parking lots and no valet parking services available. Families may appreciate the restrooms with baby changing tables and the possibility to rent strollers. Mall of Acadiana is very upscale and serves a very large trade area, and therefore may be unaffordable for some people with lower incomes.
Those who want to take a break from shopping can watch a movie in the Carmike Cinema, but you can also visit the surrounding area. Thomas Park is in the proximity of this mall.
Although the mall is considered to be generally safe, in September 2006 a man shot and killed a woman. The man was killed by the police. Those who are interested in working at this mall should visit the following page to see current openings: http://www.mallofacadiana.com/shop/acadiana.nsf/job_opps.
